A Place to Learn, Live, and Love Jewish Values
Jewish Ethics & Values
Our school culture is grounded in Middot (Jewish ethics) that foster a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment. Principles including Kavod (Respect), Emet (Truth), Hakarat HaTov (Recognizing the Good), and Ometz Lev (Inner Strength) guide interactions within our school community.
Our progressive approach to Jewish learning integrates the creative arts into our explorations of what it means to be Jewish in 21st century America. Opportunities for self-expression through music, dance, drama, writing, yoga and the visual arts are integrated into our program.
Hebrew High School
We are proud to have a vibrant Hebrew High program. Classes meet on Sunday evenings and include both core courses and electives. Prior to each session students also have an opportunity to gather for dinner. Each semester will also feature a class trip to an exciting location in the Baltimore/Washington Area or beyond.
Fun, warm, and welcoming environment for children. The first step on the life-long journey of Jewish education. Immersion in Jewish values, traditions, and celebrations through stories, songs, and the arts.
KINDERGARTEN – 2ND GRADE
Our Sunday-only Hebrew and Judaic program for grades K-2 teaches students much more than just the aleph-bet. Among
other instructional modalities, our youngest learners explore Hebrew through movement, starting their lifelong Jewish learning adventure on an active note. Throughout the primary grades, children develop Hebrew literacy, build Jewish values, experience the holidays, explore Bible stories, and connect with modern Israel. K-2 students also participate in our Mishpacha youth group activities and Junior Congregation.
3RD – 5TH GRADE:
LEARN LIKE A J.E.W.
Our 3rd-5th graders advance to Sunday/Wednesday Hebrew and Tefilah (Prayer) classes. Sunday includes Torah, the Bible, and the Jewish life cycle while Wednesday is our J.E.W. program (Jewish Experiential Wednesdays). This program brings Judaic learning to life through active participation. The J.E.W. program focuses on a different, engaging topic each semester. Topics vary and may include: God, Mitzvot and Me, Jewish History, Israel, Bible People, Middot (Jewish Values), and Our Jewish Year. 3rd-5th graders also participate in our Mishpacha youth group activities and Junior Congregation.
6th – 7TH GRADE:
BAR/BAT MITZVAH & BEYOND
Our unique B’nai Mitzvah program includes
several Rabbi-taught classes as well as individual tutoring with our Cantor. In weekly classes with their teachers, students continue enhancing their knowledge of Israel, the Holocaust, and Tanakh (Bible). Middle school students participate in our Kadima youth group activities
HEBREW HIGH SCHOOL
Our Hebrew High program continues the Jewish conversation with discussion-based, seminar style learning. Topics include Finding God, Derekh Eretz (Jewish Civility), How the Amidah Speaks to Me, The Real Jewish Life Cycle, and Mitzvot in the Real World as well as electives such as Step Up for Israel, Jewish Communities Around the World, Peace Studies, and Tikkun Olam (Repair the World/Social Action). High school students participate in our USY youth group activities and the Howard County Teen Interfaith Initiative.
