EHL Associates begins their work with Beth Shalom
What’s in a kitchen?
Each month, we would like to profile an area of the new building and share some more details with our Beth Shalom family. This month, we want to share our Beth Shalom kitchen with you. First and foremost, it will be much larger but unlike our current kitchen, we do not expect to hold classes in there since we will have much more classroom space than what we have today. Our kitchen will be a dairy kitchen but we also will have a dedicated space adjacent to this dairy kitchen that will initially be for more storage and will in the future become our meat kitchen. We plan to rough in the water and draining and power lines during construction for the future meat kitchen at the same time. Within the dairy kitchen, we’ll have a walk-in refrigerator, a walk-in freezer, dishwashing equipment, and the much needed ovens and stoves. Also adjacent to the kitchen, we will have a large storage area for kitchen supplies and we will no longer have a need to store tables and chairs in the kitchen.
Expansion plans helped with our new ARK space
With the recent dedication and opening of the Amazing Rich Kavalsky (A.R.K.) space behind our building, we are in the process of evaluating how to better utilize the original design of the interior space layouts. When completed, we expect that our building interior space will be even more efficient and we will be constructing a “connector” from the main building into the ARK building.
Should you be contacted by EHL, we ask for your full cooperation and frankness, and if you haven’t been contacted, we ask for your patience as we work through this initial phase.
As we reported last month, our newly hired professional fundraising consultant, EHL Associates of Philadelphia has begun to work with Beth Shalom leadership to help wrap up our “More than Just a Building” capital campaign. Their initial efforts will be focused on conducting individual interviews with a group of our members that cross over demographics of our congregational family to include some new members, some longer term members, some young and some senior. By selecting a diverse group, we expect to get back a representative sampling of comments that will help us to finalize our approach and reach our much needed fundraising goals.
