Men's Club
The kickoff Men's Club Brunch was a phenomenal success!! 45 men gathered for a great brunch and to hear author Fred Glueckstern provide a historical account of the legendary 1927 New York Yankees. Below are pictures from this event.
After the brunch, Glueckstern held a book signing of his volume that chronicled that famed team. The Men's Club response was overwhelming! The author ran out of books, and now has numerous orders to fill.
Many thanks to everyone who made the brunch an incredible success. Jay Block found and delivered our speaker. Jeff Komrower provided the computer and projector for the powerpoint presentation. Alan Sperling served as our photographer, and Jay Fridkis provided "kosher" support.
Brunch consisted of bagels, lox, cream cheese, vegies, fruit, tuna, muffins, dessert, and hot and cold beverages. Many thanks to all of you who came and enjoyed our first brunch of the year.
You will soon be getting emails about our next two brunches.
In December, our brunch will focus on end of the year tax, financial and estate planning. We are blessed with many professionals within our congregation who can provide excellent advice to all of your end of the year, as well as financial and estate planning queries.
In February, we will welcome the return of the Men's Club Brunch and Super Bowl Raffle!!!
Our calendar for the year will be published very soon. This is going to be one great year for Men's Club.
I can already tell you to expect both our poker night and famous Roses for Mom, which is our Mother's Day fundraiser of providing mothers with roses directly from Israel.
If you have not paid your Men's Club dues for this year, please mail $36 payable to Beth Shalom Men's Club directly to Beth Shalom, and they will put it in my box.
WHEN YOU READ THIS SCROLL, PLEASE TAKE TWO MINUTES AND SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, SO THAT I AM SURE I HAVE YOU ON MY EMAIL LIST!!! My email is MdLawyer@aol.com.
In December, I will also be asking everyone to consider a chai donation to the Men's Club Scholarship Fund. This is one of our most important missions. For years, we raised money to provide a $2000.00 scholarship to a Beth Shalom student. The criteria include finishing Hebrew High School through the 12th grade, Jewish activities and financial need. We will award our first scholarship in June 2009. Yes, that is 1 1/2 years away. Thanks to the incredible work of our religious school program, that will be the year that our Hebrew High School extends to the 12th grade. Men's Club will be the first to congratulate the graduates and will provide the scholarship to one of them!! From that point forward, we will need to make sure we always have the necessary funds for the scholarship. An annual contribution of $18 from our membership will help us achieve this goal.
Thanks so much, and I am looking forward to a legendary year of activities.
Yours in brotherhood,
Harry B. Siegel
